As of August 2025, there were no specific national announcements or programmes aimed at accelerating the conversion of heavy commercial vehicles to CNG, with interim targets or implementation timelines. The measures adopted in 2025 (Decree No. 49/2025, Resolution No. 210/2025 and Administrative Provision No. 30/2025) do not cover heavy commercial vehicles powered by CNG or conversions to CNG; they focus on electrified vehicles and primarily on passenger cars.
ENARGAS publishes data on CNG-authorised vehicles by type and province, and reports on the vehicle fleet in circulation provide data by segment. However, there is no consolidated official series directly reporting the percentage of heavy commercial vehicles powered by CNG as a share of the total fleet in that segment. Furthermore, the Ministry of Economy and the Secretariat of Transport stated that they did not have the requested information at the level of detail and consolidation required to monitor the target established in the National Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Plan.
