FIRST ANALYSIS OF THIS OBJECTIVE CONDUCTED IN AUGUST 2025

Early progress
Detail
According to official data from the Federal Registry of Local Governments (REFGLO), Argentina has 1,212 municipalities, of which only 29 have joined the Network of Municipalities Promoting Agroecology (RENAMA), representing 2.39%. Reaching 20% would require 242 municipalities, meaning that at least 213 additional municipalities would need to join. The distribution is markedly uneven: around 86% of participating municipalities are concentrated in the Pampas region (Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe), with only two municipalities in Cuyo and one in Patagonia. This level of uptake shows early progress, but remains far below the target threshold, with strong territorial concentration and no publicly available evidence of a national scaling-up plan to accelerate participation in the remaining regions.
The implementing authority for this objective is the National Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. No response on this matter was received in any of the 3 information requests submitted. The assigned category is therefore “Early progress”.
