Detail

There has been some progress, but it has been minimal and is not aligned with the measure’s own planned timeframe. According to information from the Ministry of Economy (2025), the most recent national high-voltage transmission project was completed in 2017, while the most recent project in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) was completed in 2006, 19 years ago. Over the past ten years, electricity demand grew by 20%, while the high-voltage transmission network expanded by only 8%, resulting in bottlenecks and increasing system congestion.

The National Electricity Transmission Expansion Works Plan identifies priority projects to address these constraints and strengthen the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI). However, it proposes that investment be financed by the private sector, increasing uncertainty regarding implementation. In this context, no significant progress has been recorded towards achieving the target, and the objective is classified as “Early progress”.
