The objective considers as renewable energy the sources defined under Law No. 26,190, including hydropower plants with a capacity exceeding 50 MW. Over the past five years, total renewable electricity generation grew by an average of 1% year on year. If this trend continues, the share would reach approximately 44% by 2030, well below the 50% target.

The hydropower projects envisaged in the National Energy Transition Plan to achieve a 27% contribution by 2030 are not under construction, which means that the renewable energy sources covered by Law No. 27,191 would need to grow well beyond the 30% target.

Although this segment is close to meeting the interim target of 20% by 2025, the current growth rate is insufficient to reach 30% by 2030. This outlook is further worsened by the minimal budget allocation for 2025: funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency represents only 0.003% of the national budget, the lowest level in five years (FARN, 2025). Based on the analysis, the objective falls within the “Moderate progress” category.
