FIRST ANALYSIS OF THIS OBJECTIVE CONDUCTED IN AUGUST 2025
CATEGORY
Moderate progress
DETAIL
Since the publication of the National Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Plan in April 2023, one new Ramsar Site has been added: Península Mitre, Tierra del Fuego, designated on 20 August 2024 as Site No. 2557, covering 369,417 hectares. With this addition, Argentina has 24 Ramsar Sites in total.
To achieve the objective, one additional site still needs to be designated during 2025. Given that fewer than four months remain and no official responses were received to the information requests concerning the pipeline of sites under assessment for designation by the end of the year, the assigned category is “Moderate progress”, with a high risk of non-achievement.
