Category
Early progress
Detail
A methodology, testing framework and system architecture are in place to scale up the Early Warning System, and continuous national operations are under way. Every 15 days, the system processes Sentinel and Landsat 8 imagery, validates 100% of alerts using geographic information systems and submits reports to the provinces, cross-referencing Native Forest Land-Use Plans and plan registries. During the reporting period, 11,607 alerts were recorded, covering 76,986 hectares in Category II (yellow) and 60,342 hectares in Category III (green).
However, sustained operational use has been verified in only 3 provinces. The main gap concerns institutional adoption, including agreements and response protocols, interoperability with Native Forest Land-Use Plans, SACVeFor and cadastral systems, training, and public performance metrics. Given the installed capacity but limited adoption, the “Early progress” category is maintained.
