Detail

The indicator cannot be calculated. For 2023, CIAM only publishes the area of native forest declared by each province, disaggregated by conservation category, without year-on-year data series or annual loss figures specifically disaggregated for green-category areas. In addition, no response was received to the information requests submitted. As of December 2023, only three provinces had updated their Native Forest Land-Use Plans: Tierra del Fuego, Santa Cruz and Santa Fe. Chaco and Salta were engaged in technical exchanges, while the plans of the remaining provinces had expired.

Regarding the budgetary context, the National Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Plan Implementation Report indicates that the Native Forest Fund increased from $5,712,415,000 in 2022 to $9,000,000,000 in 2023, an increase of 57%, while the National Native Forest Protection Programme increased from $525,000,000 to $1,000,000,000, an increase of 90%. However, the situation deteriorated in 2024: the rolled-over budget maintained the nominal allocation at $9 billion, representing a real-terms decline; the execution of transfers was virtually nil; and the FOBOSQUE trust fund was abolished in October 2024 through Decree No. 888/24. In summary, the additional funding provided in 2023 did not develop into sustained financing or effective implementation capacity in 2024.

For these reasons, the assigned category is “No information”.
